 | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

I originally got the Samsung LN55C630 and a few things I don't like about it compared to this LG are the following. #1 - input lag. If you don't know what this is search it on wikipedia. Basically this LG has very minimal lag. It's a fast panel with equal color reproduction as the Samsung. #2 - frame interpolation (the smooth thing on the 120Hz+ panels) is much more natural on the LG (whereas the Samsung looks fake). Both TVs offer customization for it in Blur and Jitter correction. I use the TV for HD content off a home theater PC, DirecTV, and Xbox360 action. I found both TV's give issues with videos looking "jerky" with the frame interpolation turned on unlike my old 60Hz TV but simply dropping the PC's refresh rate to 24Hz (film is... I just saw that the 240 Hz model is only $150 more now, but hey, that kind of stuff happens all the time with electronics. I am very happy with my purchase so far. |
