4.0 out of 5 stars Great TV!, November 28, 2011

I picked up this Sansui 40" during a Black Friday sale. I had the opportunity to quickly compare this the Sansui 40" to a few other 40" TVs in the store before I purchased it. The image quality was very similar to the Samsung and Sony TVs that were sitting on either side of it. At the low Black Friday price, buying this TV was a no brainer.

I can't really find anything wrong with this TV. This is a good basic TV.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice HD, poor SD, December 6, 2011

Bought this Tv at a can't beat it price of $299 on Black Friday so we really wanted this to work out. Unfortunately, no matter how much we tinker with the controls or what setting we use the picture in SD is not natural. The colors are just too bright and inconsistent from channel to channel. On the positive side, the HD picture is gorgeous.. we have it connected through our cable DVR. Believe it has an HD Tuner so may not even need it to get HD. The sound, often a problem in these TVs, is solid and clear in our midsize living room without having to turn it up all the way.

Reluctantly, we've decided to return the TV because of the standard picture (people too pink or too pale is just annoying!) Getting a 37" Panasonic instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a starter tv @$300, BJs TG sale, November 30, 2011
This review is from: Sansui HDLCD4050 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV (Electronics)
I was looking for my first LCD tv under 300 and bought this during TG at BJs for $300.

I have had the viewing pleasure of SONY Bravia XBR 46 and another Bravia LED 55 inches. Honestly, I dont understand the technical details of the tvs nor tell the difference.

However, the options with the remote are limited. There is no back button on the remote to come back to the previous screen The automatic channel selection feature sucks(ie if you have no set top box with the comcast remote). Luckily, there is 1 recall button to go back to the last channel you were on

Please note, i have comcast(extended basic package) coaxial cable to my living room and no set top box room(it is in a differnt room). So, I am stuck with the tv remote and options provided for searching channels on them. This TV does not find all the analog channels like the SONY Bravia XBR 46 did and am left with around 30-40 out of the nearly 100 channels i can still see on the tube tv... Read more
